Stanley Whitaker is a guitarist, vocalist and composer best known for his work with ’70’s seminal progressive rock group Happy the Man. His sense of humor is evident in pieces like “Stumpy Meets the Firecracker in Stencil Forest” and “Knee-bitten Nymphs in Limbo”, both from their first “self-titled” album on Arista Records in 1977. Their second album, “Crafty Hands”(Arista-1978), is critically acclaimed by many as their best work. Both albums were produced by legendary producer Ken Scott, (Supertramp, Elton John, David Bowie, Jeff Beck, Mahavishnu Orchestra) and are regarded by many to be the finest examples of American progressive rock and “required listening” for the adventurous listener. Stan continues to thrive musically and was recently in the studio with fellow HTM alumni Frank Wyatt (piano, sax, composer) recording their second album with Oblivion Sun. Their shared musical vision, which they pioneered together 39 years ago with Happy the Man, continues on with Oblivion Sun as they evolve and broaden their musical palette. Their production team is available for recording, engineering, mixing, mastering and providing music for film, video and video games. In 2011 Stanley recorded vocals for the Six Element’s first album “Primary Elements”, produced by Michael (Misha) Shengaout for the independent label “Tower of Harmony”. Stanley and Frank worked on mixing and mastering the album.
